Post GOOD vidya that noone has ever heard of. Bonus points if it's free ( imagine paying for your downtime )

Il start with "Cave Story", arguably the first and one of the best indie games ever made.

I might check it out.
I like CDDA personally, spastic as fuck innawoods zombie roguelike ala project zomboid (8+ years and counting NPC's promised).
Could never get into Cataclysm: bright nights though.

I'll check out cave story OP

Not sure if this counts as good but it's very obscure.
It's basically a chess game but with tanks and some kind of spaceships? But the control is pretty terrible iirc.

Very nice. I love Cave Story. Haven't got to the true ending though.

looks a bit like battlechess by interplay

Actually, nevermind not at all. This has nothing to do with chess kek

I have never heard of it.
I hate this trend of "indie" games that are insanely difficult, roguelikes or whatever faggy shit they call themselves.
I just want a simple game where I can actually stay alive, like the old Final Fantasy's that were turn based for NES

Yeah, you'll still need to fight 1v1 in an arena when you encounter an opponent's piece kek. But the pieces' movements on the board are still like regular chess.

I like it for it's originality i'll say that much.

Pokémon Uranium is worthy of an official release, though it’ll never get one. I only wish it worked on an emulator.

hear me out
I this game for free in a flee market, "harry potter and the chamber of secrets". It sat in my basement for a good 8 years before I ever played it, but it was LITERALLY ocarina of time x dishonored with both zelda style dungeons and dishonored style stealth ( though ableit, the npcs are marginally stupider ). The plot is more or less based on the movie.

I have a big container of ps2 games, all of which i've tried, and most of which are utter niggercoal... but this was enjoyable even if my copy was in french xd

this game is unironically great and has sovl unlike the nu-slop mainstream movie games.
This game perfectly captured the feeling of the movie in a way that made you feel as if you were him. I remember it fondly.

i've gotta play this again i remember these games were so chill and fun

Songs of Syx
Starsector
Patrician III
Those are the somewhat obscure(?) games that occupy my time when i play video games.
Songs of syx and dwarf fortress are both masterpiece colony builders. Dwarf fortress especially is unlike anything else.

As for more obscure games? ANGBAND and it's variants (frogcomposband is best) for an old school ascii roguelike with tons of class and race variety. Virtual chess 64 while on mushrooms if you are a chess fan
