I’ve been thinking about RTTL. Mostly about some work ideas. People obviously need both money and food. What could future communities produce and sell? The Amish for example focus on furniture, carpentry, construction and agriculture. Could we have sort of guideline for communities? Things that we can replicate across the board with multiple skill levels and work for everyone from teenagers to adults and perhaps older individuals near retirement?
To start with I have been thinking that they grow cider apples and juneberries to brew their own cider and wine. Juneberries can be frozen. The cider and wine can be marketed as speciality products. Could have a microbrewery. Could also brew beer. France has loads of little regions producing some great cider.
They could plant cherries, asian pears and different berry varieties to sell soft fruit in the summer. Some curious varieties to bring in customers like: balloon berries, red bayberry, black raspberry, rubus hararasp, gooseberry(various), honeyberry, Japanese wine berry, thimbleberries, smultron, nanking cherry, alongside the traditional blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. At this scale you can setup an automatic watering system and build your own greenhouse/grow tunnel setup. You can have your own garden centre/plant nursery to sell plants at that kind of scale. Grow your own from seed or from trimmings. Could also grow general garden or house plants for sale. A gardening centre could also be linked to a potter?
You can grow carrots, potatoes, beetroots, onion, garlic and cabbage. Beetroots can be grated with onion and sugar and made into a sort of salad that is stored in jars after being pressure cooked. Cabbage can be made into sauerkraut with grated carrots. Other berries can be made into jams or freeze dried. With so much going on in terms to plants you could have bees and sell honey. Kompot is a thing. Honey, sugar and hazelnut sweets like nougat or hazelnut pasteli could have some potential.
I’ve seen so many stands selling products from family farms in Croatia that it’s practically burned into my brain. I’ve seen little roadside stands in America too. A larger community could have its own farm shop. Could also sell online.

Hazelnuts could be grown commercially. They can be harvested and cracked with specialised machinery. Although with orchards there are issues with pests that can ruin your crop. There are ways to get around it but that would require research and scouting the general region you live in. I think that diatomaceous earth is sprayed on plants to kill insects, sometimes orchards have nets over the trees and of course there is the option of insecticide. Maybe you can crowdfund for specific projects? People are more willing to help projects that have some actual physical goal rather than some ambiguous promise.
Maybe a traditional European styled restaurant/pub? English breakfast, French, Italian, Polish and Croatian dishes and home baked apple crumbles, cheese or chocolate cakes for desserts. Bangers and mash, hunters chicken, burgers, ribs with chips, roast chicken, fish and chips, steak and chips, Ratatouille, beef stew, Duck Confit, krupnik, Grochówka, schnitzel and sauerkraut, chili con carne, Swedish meatballs, Kotlety mielone, Croatian style meat barbecue and salad(Ajvar is great with steak). These are just some suggestions. I’m thinking about simple dishes with more or less basic ingredients. Obviously you would want to pick out some popular and easy to cook dishes. There is also the problem of regulations and hostiles. Leftists and zog would be looking to shut down anything that could bring money into your community.
