Hey y'all, amerimutt here. I've been getting more into literature as it's much less stimulating than video. I have previously read books like animal farm, 1984, and high fantasy slop. I also enjoyed "that was the, this is now". I am looking for books that are less doomer and have a positive message, particularly for white men or just men in general, or books that your average man could get alot out of. I never was much of a reader but I understand I am missing out on what is essentially an endless trove of knowledge and entertainment through writing.

Read White literature. It will help you connect to your own past and culture, and the works are very fun to read. Reading about history is fun, but reading from history is even better. You will learn the nuance of how our ancestors thought and acted.

Try something simply like Ivanhoe - Walter Scott

Not all of them translated sadly. Knowing english and serbian does upon up a huge catalogue by itself, but it is barely touching the surface. There is so much other untranslated works on russian, italian, french, spanish, german etc that require learning the language or having someone translate. AI is not always useful because it will miss much in translating.

I have always had two thoughts on this.
>Translate everything into English and everyone will learn and think and write in English blah blah blah
Now, whether or not you agree with this, it does seem the direction the world is moving. Or, the other thought is
>Every European nation think and read and write in their own language, and then attempt some other form of 'lingua franca'.
Now, I do prefer this method because it does allow nations to maintain their own language. And since thought influence language, and language influences thought, it would allow for that actual cultural and "psychological" diversity.

But what that 'lingua franca' could be, I do not know. English is to obvious, and once something becomes an empire, it destroys its home. Latin would be interesting, because it is a dad language, therefore it would maintain a linguistic solidity. Or some automated form of translation.

>Now, whether or not you agree with this, it does seem the direction the world is moving. Or, the other thought is
And thats not a problem. English is pretty good language (excluding ebonics and other subhuman accents). Only thing like entertainment and other day to day things shall remain in native languages, while all general knowledge of understanding the world should be through english when people mean to connect, otherwise it can also be nurtured in the native language to see how far could it go. I tried to translate the spirit of serbian language in the english, it worked partially, but guess where it got stuck... serbian language is simply primitive, there can be made a case that it loves to kill itself and voluntarilly commits suicide unlike other language who at least try to integrate latin and other loanwords well enough. Serbian is just slavic words used to connect loanwords together in a nuttshell and make sense if there even is sense, without the loanwords, especially the anglo ones for getting through modern speech, you are left with pretty primitive language, that taps into concepts but never goes deeper and then just latches onto latin due to trend chasing.

>Latin would be interesting, because it is a dad language, therefore it would maintain a linguistic solidity. Or some automated form of translation.
Latin is a great basis of all our Indo-European languages to some extent, its how we grasp higher concept, while Slavic languages are grounded and primal for the Indo-European mind.

I didn't realize that about Serbian and other Slavic language. I am incredibly mono-linguistic. Well, i am not going to attempt to tell someone what they should do with their own language. I have enough concerns about the English language and some of the abuses it has suffered as of late. Not only in speaking, but in writing as well. I swear, we will soon see the death of spoken communication, and instead, people will walk around with a pocket full of meme cards, and will reply by holding them up to each others faces.

There was a time when i thought that I should learn other languages, but when reading the English literature of, say, 1750-1850, I realized i needed to learn English better. It's my own project that is surprisingly difficult, but I do gain satisfaction from it.

Yes, under the Habsburg rule and after the uprising after 1804, serbian language somewhat prospered dare i say, and after WW1/WW2 it decided it had enough and completely abandoned the slavic elements of itself and just embraced trend-chasing blindly the next lingua franca.

>I swear, we will soon see the death of spoken communication, and instead, people will walk around with a pocket full of meme cards, and will reply by holding them up to each others faces.
Holy shit, my sides!!

>but when reading the English literature of, say, 1750-1850, I realized i needed to learn English better.
That is the case also with serbian in some regards when i read past literature, but the point is, there is no point in trying to learn the older vocabulary because if you bring it up, contemporary peers will just cringe immensely and go back to the judeo-slop-ebonics they speak today or the belgrade-street-nigger accent and vocabulary, they should be gassed i swear to God.

Yah, its funny. I deleted all my social media around 2012. I simply did not like what it was doing to me, and doing to others. I could see people were becoming less social and more mentally scattered. So, I have, essentially, missed out on 13 years of development on how people think, communicate, and even perceive themselves. I am a normal person from 2010, put into a time machine, and transported to the modern world.

And because of this, I communicate different than most people. And people seem to like talking with me. i think it's because I give them attention when they talk, instead on constantly checking my phone like most people do. I also tend to speak slower, and present my thoughts with more precision and nuance than they are used too. What a funny world it has become.

I have been recommending old pulp novels for a while. I think a lot of men would get a lot out of them. They are stories of active heroics. Men defeating the enemy and saving the day.

They are also a snap-shot of our culture before its decay. That positive early 20th century culture that went on to dominate the world and conqueror the stars.

And there is a real energy in the writing. It is hard to explain, but I always find that i am very energized and ambitious after reading them.

I would recommend The Shadow and Doc Savage. You should be able to find them on the interwebz. Grab the first novel of each series and give it a go.

Man, pulp covers were such incredible art. They are just so much fun to look at. And the stories, I feel, are so good for the soul.

There is a weird autist who has a site on the philosophy of pulp novels. Its called Pulp Fiction Renaissance. You should read a few of his main articles, they are actually very good and interesting.
