Some time ago I started doing some research on the word 'Aryan'. The initial research had some unexpected results. I learned a number of things I had never seen anywhere else. Much of this is information which can be found in standard, mainstream sources used for Indo-European historical linguistics, but I noticed there wasn't a lot of interest in compiling the various cognates in one place and giving them a thorough analysis.

There's a certain stigma of 'Nazism' associated with the word which probably explains the academic neglect. Some people actually have the mistaken idea now that cognates of Sanskrit आर्य (ā́rya-) are limited to Indo-Iranian languages. This belief could not be further from the truth.

First I'll post something old I made a while back. Then I'll post a rough draft I'm working on. If anyone has ideas regarding the best way to format this so it looks good, let me know. I just wanted to post this some place quiet where the thread won't disappear too quickly.

And here's the current rough draft. Adding cognates of the word 'earl' is important for the Germanic branch. The name of the Heruli is very interesting.
