Alright /ck/, let’s talk post-Apocalyptic meal preparation. When SHTF, you won't have access to fresh groceries, electricity might be a luxury, and you’ll have to rely on whatever you’ve stockpiled. Either you start preparing mentally for the improbable or you will be doing the inevitable, which is making love to a man for half a can of expired brown beans.
We wouldn't want that would we now?

Which is best?
>Canned vs. Dehydrated vs. Freeze-Dried

How to
>DIY Preserving – Pickling, smoking, fermenting
>Cooking Without Power – Fire pits, solar ovens, rocket stoves
>Bartering & Foraging (FARMING)

WHAT
>Caloric Density & Nutrition – What foods keep you alive the longest?
>The importance of stocking SALT
>Seedprep (paramount for post apocalypse, not so much for SHTF)

How will you prepare?

Feel free to chime in and contribute as i will do the same over the course of the next few weeks (waging too much)

SHTF SURVIVAL – FIRST 72 HOURS TO SEVERAL MONTHS
Your immediate focus is survival. Resources will be scarce, people will panic, and order will break down.
In order to address the nutritional aspect, we need to address the order of focus in a SHTF scenario.

Establish Immediate Security (First 24 Hours)
▢ Get out of danger – Avoid high-population areas, riots, and hostile zones.
▢ Secure shelter – Your home, a bug-out location, or a defensible spot.
▢ Assess weapons & defense – If SHTF, people get desperate. Arm yourself if needed.

First and only rule: Stay unseen, unheard, unnoticed.

Water Procurement (First 3 Days)
🚰 You die in 3 days without water.
▢ Store or find clean water – 1 gallon per person per day.
▢ Boil, filter, or purify any water from unknown sources.
▢ Rainwater collection & storage – Set up tarps, barrels, or containers. Learn DIY filtering and pivot towards reverse osmosis eventually

Food & Nutrition (First 1-2 Weeks)
🍲 Food shortage kicks in within days.
▢ Use perishable food first – Eat fridge & freezer food before it spoils save the seeds from all the fruits/veggies you eat and air dry them in a paper towel.
▢ Canned & dry goods – Beans, rice, oats, canned meats, peanut butter. LEARN TO CAN YOURSELF (cheap asf)
▢ Minimal cooking options – Use propane, wood, or solar ovens. Friction based fires if need be!

Power & Fuel (First 2-4 Weeks)
>>>/sci/
⚡ The grid may fail. Prepare alternatives. Solarcucks win but you will get #Bandited
▢ Generators & solar panels – Have backups for minimal power needs. Don't turn on the generator inside.
▢ Stockpile fuel (gas, propane, alcohol, firewood).
▢ Batteries, flashlights, and rechargeable power banks. These won't last forever but are indispensable short term

Medical & Hygiene (always)
>>>/sci/
💊 Hospitals won’t be an option, best you can hope for is doctor piccolo
▢ First aid kit – Painkillers, antibiotics, bandages, antiseptics. If you're diabetic you learn 2 synthesize or kill yourself, sorry.
▢ Sanitation – Human waste disposal, hygiene products, disinfectants.
▢ Basic herbal medicine & natural remedies – Learn 2 heal.

Security & Defense (First Month & Beyond)
🔫 Once law enforcement collapses, it's every man for himself.
▢ Fortify your home – Reinforce entry points, create safe rooms. ( Do NOT underestimate what hunger can do to a man)
▢ Weapons & defense – Firearms, melee weapons, traps.
▢ Stealth & deception – Don’t attract attention to your supplies.

After several months, (and) the world won’t return to normal. Governments may collapse, society may be gone, and you must rebuild - on your own if need be.

POST APOCALYPSE:
Long-Term Shelter & Community
🏠 Lone wolf survival is a death sentence. You need allies and make sure you have a list of friends ready to go.
▢ Find/build a secure homestead – Rural areas, abandoned buildings, caves.
▢ Create/join a small, trustworthy community – Safety in numbers.
▢ Establish roles & responsibilities – Defense, farming, medicine, scouting.

Sustainable Food & Water
🌱 You can’t rely on stockpiles forever. Grow food or die.
▢ Hunting, fishing, and trapping – Learn to process wild game.
▢ Farming & gardening – Potatoes, beans, corn, squash, medicinal herbs. (remember those seeds you saved?)
▢ Livestock – Chickens, rabbits, goats = food & barter value.
▢ Water wells & purification – Make water independence a priority.

Renewable Energy & Fuel
>>>/sci/
🔋 Power grids will be long gone. Generate your own.
▢ Solar panels, wind turbines, water wheels – Off-grid energy.
▢ Biofuels & wood gasification – Convert organic material into fuel.
▢ Candle-making & oil lamps – Light sources when electricity fails.

Medicine & Health
>>>/sci/
🏥 No hospitals. No pharmacies. You’re your own doctor. 99% of the world's diabetics just died.
▢ Grow medicinal plants – Aloe, yarrow, garlic, echinacea, willow bark.
▢ Learn field medicine – Suturing wounds, setting bones, herbal treatments.
▢ Hygiene & disease prevention – Cleanliness = survival.

Bartering & Economy
>>>/biz/
💰 In a post-apocalyptic world, money is worthless. Skills and goods matter.
▢ High-value barter items – Ammo, antibiotics, alcohol, salt, seeds, tools.
▢ Learn valuable skills – Blacksmithing, carpentry, medical knowledge, mechanics.
▢ Trading & diplomacy – Avoid unnecessary conflicts, trade smart.

Security & Conflict
>>>/k/
⚔️ Hunger = Conflict Be ready.
▢ Perimeter defense – Traps, early warning systems, guard posts.
▢ Weapons & tactics – Guns, melee combat, stealth, guerrilla warfare.
▢ Form alliances – Stronger together, but be cautious of betrayal.

you were ITT faster then i anticipated, hadn't finalized the writeup yet kek.
The cans are from a luxury postapoc condo. there are companies selling gigantic canned foodstuffs for this exact purpose. but you can largely do that yourself as well.
Probably the best pre- prep is Freeze drying and using pic related.

future you in 50 years will thank you.

We joke about "The jEW FEARSThe apartment fish farmer", but truly, having the ability to stock several livestock waterers(big horkin' tubs,) with tilapia and duckweed, like fish breeders do, or even converting over the backyard pool,(or one in a house that you've been able to commandeer,) would be of GREAT benefit.

I want to add to this TOBACCO
You don't have to smoke to be able to grow and trade this HIGH-Value barter item. On other chans, this is included on /ck/ boards,(begrudgingly,) since it's a consumable with flavors, variety and preparation variations.
Tobacco can be grown easily in 5 gallon buckets for transport-ability,(1 plant per,) or just having 4-10 plants in a secured back yard. They ARE nitrogen pigs, but ya gotta do SUMTHIN' with the bodies of intruders and all that piss you generate, right? It's not like the toilets work anymore.
after it's grown, you'll need to have a shed to cure it in, but a garage also works fine as long as it has good ventilation. you can easily take over a burnt-out neighbors house's garage and do it there.
Takes about a year to get it rolling, but there will be people who will literally KILL for a cigarette/cigar
Get you some seeds, and learn to do:

That pic ONLY represents the caloric needs for BareBones survival.
I wouldn't suggest Seed oils, as they WILL go (more) rancid over time, and after a year, they will likely just make you sore and sick.
The grains in the pic are wheat, but you can use any grain, White rice seems to be the other favorite, but you'll need to do a little math to determine just how long X amount of grain calories will last for ya.
>Is that really all a human needs, protein and calcium included?
Absolutely NOT you should at the very LEAST have several bottles of Multi-vitamins. but there are a lot of better ways to get needed vitamins, provided the environment isn't completely contaminated: Dandelions, mullein, pine needles from fir trees for vitamin C.
I'm sure the canned, Powdered milk provides the calcium,(Again, minimum,) and the cooking oil is for big calorie storage, but Personally, I'd not only swap out the cooking oil for coconut oil,(shelf stable, same calories, healthier too,) but a good 20 or so packages of Lard or Tallow as well.
I think it's funny that they included the Sam's Club rack, fuck that shit--But I'm a builder anyway, so I'll be making my own or just caching it around the house, or...
, The legumes are BEANS.
>Dis Nigga eatin' BEANS!!
But honestly when you combine beans and rice together, either cooked together or separately, they make a complete protein, something essential to long term survival. You should be having beans and rice or MEAT/Fish at least 2-3 times a week, or you will start autophagy of your muscles.
Squirrel melts, anyone?

I know indoor aquaponics aka apartment fishfarming is memed on but mastering it would prove useful even for colonizing inhospitable places.
indispensable to the culinary post apocalyptic connoisseur of the finer meats.
a nice and juicy fresh fish will go for twice the price of dry and stale pemmican.

Very nice pics btw, it reinforces what is important.

Very memy but i think we should probably address toilet paper. That shit won't work in post society. We'll have to clean it with water like they do in the middle east etc.

Yeah, unfortunately all the BigLots closed in my area. They had big 102 ozs. containers of their FreshFinds coconut oil for about $13-102 ozs.
I should've stocked up, but you can still buy them online--even Wal-Mart carries it, and as much as I HATE wally world, I'd pinch my nose and go in there for supplies in this case.
I think they still sell shotgun shells too.
I see one glaring ommision in the pic too...
PEANUT OIL.
Should be in the real oils section under : For HOT Cooking,(and deep frying)
You used to often find this on discount after Thanksgiving, but I think they stopped doing that in most places since deep fried turkeys have fallen out of "style"
I doesn't keep nearly as long as coconut oil, but if you have a normal nose, you can tell when it starts to go off, which is a benefit.
I'll bet it would keep even longer if you kept a set of wine bottles with those rubber Vacuum corks to put it in after you opened a jug.
Some of the best homemade french fries I've made were with a 50/50 mix of peanut oil and lard.
100% Tallow would be best, or 100% duckfat if you'd want to go gourmet.(too rich to eat a full plate for me)

kek that machine looks wild and classic. very nice.
I'd have to look up peanut oil and see if that's any good. I know Asian cuisine uses it frequently. Here in this country there is no Tallow, just lard and alot of duck fat.
So duck fat is my primary go to. it's also alot more malleable at room temperature compared to tallow (solid as a brick).
I like both.

That electric fryer doesn't use a crazy amount of electricity from the looks of it. it might actually be viable on a solar panel + battery set up.

What kind of hydrolyzed corn are they feeding the janitors these days?
Nice thread. I've been down this rabbit hole, it's all about how much money you're able to sink in. Basically, with off the shelf goods to be cost effective you are best buying a year's supply of food in advance and then rotating it. Rice won't last past that window and you can't realistically expect to live off canned foods long or happily- not nutrient dense enough, cumbersome and takes up space. The cheapest option is buying mre's. But they are also very overpriced. I forget the exact details but you can get budget ones, such as the humanitarian (vegetarian) style or the questionable option of buying bulk ali baba chinese rations which is another question entirely.

This takes us into the territory of why exactly, you think you would need such a supply of food and what your planned arrangements would be. Obviously we are talking w/o ROL here so the real things to buy and plan for are long term sustainable food arrangements. Chickens, victory gardens, hydroelectric or solar power arrangements, deep cisterns and a good purifying system. Good NBC suits and medical equipment for all forms of emergency. Simply stocking up on 6mo of food alone is not in and of itself sufficient to live. and is not the best strategy. You can only really live long term by having books and intimate knowledge of how to live in that experience by trial and error, soft enacting the experience and learning how best to mitigate the problems which arise. Prepping is more of a sales pitch than a serious endeavor for most people in this sense.

And ffs guys don't start making meth autoinjector stimpacks. Use a transdermal topical solution such as MSM as your medium, nasal, or sublingual. Caffeine pills are already dirt cheap, you don't need a go pill set to survive the end of the world. But if I had to, I would put in stimulant racetams in combination, choline, something to raise bloodflow such as GSE, an antioxidant, large amounts of taurine to buffer, a gaba amp such as phenibut, energy encouraging components such as b3 niacin megadose, preworkout type mixes. Just giving a guy meth won't make them smarter or more sharp in a disaster, it might even just make them too jumpy.

> it's all about how much money you're able to sink in
It doesn't have to be.
Truly, being able to survive a WROL kind of collapse, is much more highly dependent on skills, information, and,(here's the money part,) having the basic materials and tools to utilize the former.

This thread was started from a sort of tongue-in-cheek comment and reply in another cooking thread, I hope this becomes a more serious look and Thinktank of sorts for the topic.

You are absolutely right about the fact that just throwing a bunch of money at food canned and dried, both freeze and conventional; Tacticool gear, and High tech systems installed at the price of a pretty penny, is going to lead to a lot of misery to a whole bunch of "Preppers"
As a general rule, at the least, you should be able to have the basic caloric and supplemental needs for 6 months- year. I'm talking BASIC, no frills foods that can keep for years. 6 months should get you over any hump for more self-reliant production.

>Chickens, victory gardens, hydroelectric or solar power arrangements, deep cisterns and a good purifying system.
Absolutely, although I'd consider the solar a luxury item, in a WROL scenario, they could still be had for free after the fact.
Water purification is definitely impotant, but not as hard as you might think.

>You can only really live long term by having books and intimate knowledge of how to live in that experience by trial and error, soft enacting the experience and learning how best to mitigate the problems which arise.
No Larpist are you, my good man.
Links to books should be forthcoming, and encouragement to DO the things in them also standard. There are gonna be a LOT of dead, well-equipped, well stocked morons with money in a collapse. shiney new blades that never saw the light of day, and groups dead from dysentery, wondering why the tree doesn't flush.
> Prepping is more of a sales pitch than a serious endeavor for most people in this sense.
There are truer words, but not many.

>Use a transdermal topical solution such as MSM

With lots of humor too, I meant.
The tone is already set, and we DON'T have to be acerbic, abrasive assholes here, like other Chans seem to have become.

I honestly think some decent OurGuys businesses could be made from guys building and setting up stuff like Auquaponics and chicken coops.
A boomer and their money, and all...And we could still feel good about delivering a quality service/product.
>>231
We're on the same page. Not that I'm shitting on your op, I just know from having read into this topic that there's a lot of fluff. Went through one of James Rawl's books a while back and it was entirely just lists of things to buy. Would have easily taken $20k to really feel secure if you had followed that guy's philosophy.

We are obviously talking about the end of civilization here in all these prep threads. So farm tools, cultivation, seeds. Blacksmithing, resource extraction techniques, fabrication, gunsmithing. A sense of how to work with electricity and set things up from scratch. What is unique about our scenario is there will obviously be a very large pillage and looting period where high technology will still be available for years and years among those who take it. So certain rudimentary survival skills may be far less important than keeping access to technologies such as electricity, comms, weapons and medical care etc.

There's a considerable library of prepper fiction you can find. Actually so much I don't keep track of names or authors any more. EMP scenarios, nuclear war scenarios, a real pandemic scenario, tyrannical governments scenarios. It seems obvious the most plausible are grid failure or more likely government tyranny or rebel scenarios. That would require having hiding safe hauses and deep hideaways with stocked supplies or the technology to live without and restart your local electrical system.

The number one real concern is simply where you live. Nuclear weapons zone or fallout area, uh oh. Urban death trap, uh oh. Region with poor farming potential, ruh roh.

to continue my point, the most plausible general use scenario to visualize is one where for the first 1-2 months your local city is engulfed in a firestorm of civil conflict to the point at which you have to either fortify your abode or more likely bug out.

In both scenarios you need months of food. You need weapons. You need a hidden, secure site or the ability to fortify, fire and gunproof your home.. You need the rudiments of a buddy system so you can keep watch all day and bring multiple fires to bear on targets. Medical and I suppose comms.

Then when the die off and lawlessness has ended you need the base skills and resources to help restart society. Many of these lone prepper fantasies get ridiculous. I've scoped my local area and am certain the fantasy factor of imminent violence is supremely low. Probably the neighborhood would get together and talk, we would begin the rebuilding phase almost immediately, and in only a few weeks we would have a community wide effort to help sustain and rebuild with very little infighting. That is a typical rural scenario, hardly a sexy fallout 4 post apoc narrative about murder hoboing your way from house to house

fucking kek, i like how you actually compiled a shortlist of items to replace said stimpak.
Anyways, to add to your list of gear, i think the realistic longterm solution would be to incorporate some type of integrated hydroponics + fish basin and a pivot away from growing foods that need alot of space versus foods that require less space to grow and are hydroponically compatible.
Other then that, fertilizer becomes an issue of note, how to synthesize that when you're realistically stuck underground with nothing but imitation sunlight and science to back you up.

Some of the Luxury bunkers have semi realistic solutions to these problems and actually are fresh food capable but i don't see them being fully independent (Yet).

I have thought about the combat amp product before. It's a fun one for me since it hasn't been replicated but there's obvious demand. We need items in particular that will stop PTSD in active duty soldiers. Supposedly that is related to excess stress causing maladaptive behavioral wiring in the brain.

Hiya Fren...
They had this shit in place at the executive level since the late 60s honestly. T=It's an incredibly well guarded secret for good reason.
Autoclaving human solid waste and maximizing nitrates from urine is one way, but even Biodome one had some kinks with their bio-engineered rice strain for darkwater conversion.

Still, with suitcase Nulear generators, and the innovations in TrueLight LEDs, having a successful biome is not a big challenge.
For guys with our level of $$$ and resources, there's No REASON why a lined pond stocked with tilapia and duckweed(or a pool,or a livestock water tub with a solar operated bubbler for aeration,) and perhaps slowly introducing other hardy organisms like cattails, snails and other fish, couldn't work well.
This bring to mind the idea for Ourguys businesses, in that we could breddy easily make control boards and even inverters and the like for solar arrays, Aquaponics, Hydroponics, etc.
That's outside the scope of this thread I think, but something to mull over on the back burner of the project list...
I'd be intrigued by how one could use mirrors and mylar faced tubes to direct sunlight to a subterranean grow-op.
I mean, those commercial LIGHT TUBES, Solatubes® exist, but surely one could do better than this consooomerist bullshit.
in a post apocalyptic setting, bing a Scrounger and a Scrapper is going to be a whole new ball of wax.

We could utilize /biz/ for this. I sort of like this idea. Even if it pans out into nothing, taking into consideration the logistics of it all at least will at least show us what is realistic and what is not.
I certainly like your suggestion when it comes to greywater/darkwater conversion. Zero clue when it comes to nitrites from pee but Autoclaving excrement at the very least seems like a genuinely solid idea.
Will look up trueLight LED's since i'm looking to make my own custom growlights to fit random ass shelving I plan on buying.

I personally have zero knowledge on PTSD and what causes it. I know they used to attribute shellshock to PTSD but i know that's full on bunk now since they suffered from braindamage due to the blastwaves ruining their brain (patterned brain scarring).
What do you suggest on the PTSD front?

>the bunkerpill is a fucking meme in most cases. A raider group that is aware of your presence will be able to find a way to raid and take your shit if that's your only option
kek, i like the bunkerpill. it's true that raiders can simply fuck you over but i'm not too keen on being a roamer. important to rely on a small group to be bandit resistant at the very least. Seems like settling down anywhere would be a net loss when it comes to raiders, assuming you can't protect yourself.

Also, using /biz/ for fleshing out potential business ideas sounds like a good idea, but I'd caution anyone with distinct or unique ideas. I mean patentable, to use caution, since some of these kinds of Ideas could be stolen, patented, and then you could be locked OUT from your own Idea.
I have seen it happen.
Still, no reason not to toss out FOSS ideas, as the publishing here,(or on /biz/) could be tantamount to "First instance" establishment, if documented and archived properly.
By the way, the GE rice thing was given by NASA to the Biosphere2 project, a MASSIVE FAIL, But there's no reason that the tech and Ideas couldn't still be useful, since you aren't trying to seal off if you aren't in a bunker.

There's a whole movie about it, and I'll consider this on topic since it shows the very real failpoints of trying to have a sealed off bunker.

Wow! it's a pain in the ass to find this movie without getting jewed.
seems there are kikes in every aspect of this
Anyway, a good place to look is on the Wikipedia page for Biosphere 2, then, ignoring the propaganda scroll sown to the "See Also" section, pick out one of the other, more successful ones,(or at least not showboating kikes) and run out searches from there.

And There has been great success with PTSD, and it only requires water, good shoes, and A natural place to walk miles without distress or distraction from focus.
Turns out that brisk physical walking, and even a relaxed gait after a while, has an aligning effect of the right and left hemispheres through kinesthetic use combined with thinking about the trauma.
I'll try to see if I can dig up some of the texts, but it really does work for most people.Apparent the limbic system can get stuck when certain traumas happen, and the brain has no way to clear them,(replaying of the trauma,) and it gets stuck in a loop cycle.
Not just walking, but apparently ANY kind of full body exercise helps significantly with this.

You don't want to eat niggers, anon.
They call it longpig, but I knew a Fembot Doctor who refused to prepare raw chicken because it was so similar to the human cadavers she'd worked on in med school.
I can't imagine the toxicity load a nigger would carry just from the drugs, shit food and STDs.
You'd seriously have to have no other options at that point.
>>273
it's like pig, don't eat human, you'll end up with Humanoid compatible diseases of anything that the cadaver at some point carried, including kuru which is incurable.

repurpose them for indoor growing.
If they are stainless steel at least, that is.
Racks could be repurposed into growracks as well.
>>367
lots of uses for those. You can maximize use by also cutting off the top and bottom with sidecutter openers.
☼ Lanterns
☼ repair metal
☼ scoops (having a pop-rivet gun isgreat for this, but it can be done with self tapping screws or using a nail to start the hole)
☼ fill with dirt or sand and stack staggered under windows as bullet barrier
☼ fill with water or sand and make cord handles for lifting weights.
☼ foraging bucket
☼ open the top with a side cutter can opener, clean when empty, line with corrugated cardboard-2 tight fitting rounds for top and bottom, and a long rectangle the height of the can for the side-- fill with backups of sensitive electronics like backup phones, walkies(antennas unscrewed), watches, thumb drives and SD cards -- solder or securely tape lid back on for a makeshift faraday cage
☼ Rocket stove--instructions are all over YT, some good, some bad.
You get the Idea. There are hundreds more things you can do with them. just think of them more like sheet metal that's in the shape of a can already but doesn't have to be.
They can be cut with heavy duty scissors, but metal shears are much better.
Use Gloves
Nothing will shit on your plans to survive quicker than getting a nasty cut that gets infected. Even worse would be accidentally cutting a tendon in your hand. You don't want to lose use of a hand in any situation, let along survival.

Yeah, that was me...
You can usually tell right off the bat, there is just so much GARBAGE content these days.
The GOOD tutorials on rocket stoves will have:
<best ratio for draw=3:1
<not require special purchases
<can be either big steel cans lined with vermiculite(long term)
<Cinderblocks arranged like pic
Ironically, they AREN'T Rocket science, but there are so many retards who just throw any "content" to get views, you could be wading through videos all day long.
Here's everything you need to know:

THIS:

And then this improvement;

https://youtu.be/yRLR07GRgvQ

Is about as good as it gets- filling it with dirt is fine, You don't need vermiculite.
I prefer the cinderblock ones. If I need to bug out, I'm using my little camp stove, If I'm staying in place I want something beefier--LAST thing you want is your shit to topple over and losing valuable food or water.
