With the growth of Linux gaming, I figured we can have a nice thread dedicated to it.
Which games are you all playing on Linux?
How is the experience?
Which distro? (SteamDeck?)

Can post questions for issues/troubleshooting as well.

I should get back on Linux. I miss it. I want something like Gentoo where I compile everything myself but I'm allowed to have multiple versions of the same program and its dependencies installed simultaneously.

I liked choosing what features the kernel had and everything.

With Proton, I can play pretty much anything I want that isn't infected with DENUVO AIDS.
>How is the experience?
Pretty good and manageable. Steam on it's own makes the process pretty simple these days and if you insist on DRM free stuff from GOG, Heroic Games Launcher makes for a good front-end that will allow you to tweak your Wine/Proton prefixes. This is very handy for handling compatibility and performance issues when you are trying a new title.

Linux Mint is good enough for most gaming needs. Pop_OS! has gained in popularity, but all it seems to add is a bunch of freeware open source games to the system which are largely unnecessary if you don't intend to play them. Mint+Steam+Heroic will cover pretty much any game you care to throw at it. Proton-Qt will allow you to install older versions of Proton which is great for when a new update breaks the install of a game that was running perfectly yesterday.
The biggest drawbacks for Linux gaming right now are anti-cheat for online competitive games and modding. I can't speak much to anti-cheat or workarounds for that but the modding scene is not as straightforward as it is on Windows with certain games like Skyrim+Wabbajack. You can run the installers and mod your game through the prefix you create, but be warned that a somewhat involved process on Windows becomes a highly involved process for Linux.
Modding a game like Cyberpunk 2077 or Fallout New Vegas is as easy as it ever was, just drop the files in the Data folder of your install and it generally works as intended.

Im in love with linux gaming. Both Steam deck & Ubuntu with lutris. Tried Pop OS but sadly my laptop hardware was too new and didnt really work. Playing cuphead and cave story 3d.

It's so nice using an OS that doesn't constantly harass you, I sincerely hope wincucks is damned to the eternal void.

I'm gonna build a new gaming PC this year, my old one is 5 years old and I've been mostly playing on steam deck for the last 3 years. I sure as hell ain't going to install windows on my new machine for gaming. There's barely any reason to. All the blockbusters are going to support Linux with proton and all the nieche stuff I'm not going to miss because the hobby is so plentiful.

Steam Deck was a game changer. Without games being tied to Windows there's no reason to stick to it as an enthusiast.

The tale of Sir Gaben.. :_D

Seeing more companies adopt SteamOS for their portables in awesome. We are seeing windows being phased out right before our eyes.

I have been running with my Steamdeck for two years.
I have very recently switched (this week) to Linux on my desktop.
Ive tried both PopOS and Mint, and I kinda hate the gnome ui for PopOS; so I am running Mint currently.

Problem is that no matter what I try, many games with EAC/BEye (even games that'll run fine on my Steamdeck) will not even start (it'll say I started the game then it'll just fail and switch off in steam).
I am sure its an anti cheat issue but idk wtf I am doing wrong
