>Rahm Emanuel rolled out his latest policy proposal on Sunday, arguing that the U.S. military needs reform to compete in modern warfare.

>"Ukraine’s drones have been crucial to stymieing Moscow’s advances, while helping Kyiv attack deep into Russian territory,” Emanuel wrote Sunday. “We should have the best and cheapest drones, and instead we’re racing to catch up.”

The future of war is indirect fire at the squad level. If drones actually are unbeatable they should be as prolific as grenades in an infantry unit and used much the same way. I also think integration with near range mortars and the rest to use the information they generate makes considerable sense. For instance automatic grenade launchers could be turned into highly effective indirect fire support technology guided by drones. A single squad on advance should always be able to call on a mortar team. The only use of direct fires would be raised and mop up
