Don't be a fool. They're only trying to deescalate to try to secure Israel's existence. Netanyahu can't back off without facing personal consequences, which is something he and his buddies don't want: being held accountable. Most of all by their fellow Israelis, at which they can't just screech their typical "anti-semitism" phrase that works on the West. The USA only backs off because they've tried it all and nothing works: lies & propaganda, threats, violence, trying to get its allies on board to gank up on one nation, just like good ol WW2. The other nations that rely on Iranian oil won't allow the USA to cut them off like that either. That's not even diplomacy. It's actual needs that can't be negotiated.

Anyways, ultimately domestic opinion gets a say as well. The high handed approach of the Israel lobby is what has alienated people. You cannot coherently explain to people with the grievance context why they should sympathize with Israel. It's an unsalable position on the digital landscape.
