tbh, this is the fundamental problem of altchans, which is yet to be properly solved. Anything that would prevent law-breaking posts would also make the site unusable.

This is the right idea. Mods can already link people's identities by ip on the backend so there's not much lost making it account based.  I just don't want to know who the other people in a thread are on the front end. Imageboards are so very easy to disrupt if you're a bad actor. The starting effort for a thread is very important in determining how it goes, and if  disruption agents show up in the replies they will quickly get derailed. The number one thing that kills these smallchans is the moderation burden, and this cycle will inevitably happen if precautions aren't made.

I also think you should have a trial shell board for newfags where they can get sponsored into entry to the real ones if their posts are value-adding, these being kept otherwise secret. If you have problems with that try introducing registration in waves so existing users just show up and contribute and then later are given assigned backend identities for them to register for.  

This would also allow people to run vpns and tor effectively without having to get banned

That would deter the raidfags for the most part because it's less fun, and it would neuter fedops because the whole point is to post CP and then get the guy at the next cubicle to shit er down; it doesn't work if they have to post links to some other site.

An alternative would be creating invite-only boards (or hidden boards, as some chans have it), where select people would be able to join in. You share it with a friend who shares it with a friend and so on. Slower growth but no accounts involved.

Well then you tell me an alternative method that cuts down on spam and reduces the effects of raids that try and shutdown the site. Without enough mods the few that are left will be overwhelmed and may decide that it isn't worth it anymore like what happened with Frenschan and so many others over the years. Preferably a code. Could be a set one used by a lot of people and switched whenever infiltrators start being a problem. Anything else would hinder anonymity. Ourchan is doing well so far so I'd consider it only as last option, to avoid the website having the same fate as Frenschan.

I don't think y'all know what sneaker proxies are, rotating proxies, residenital proxies, mobile proxies, etc. With a simple script you can cycle through 1000s of IPs for your botnet. My point is you'll just cancel out real users. Also many of us use tor only. We aren't going to sign up for anything and definitely won't use the site if you start banning tor. Many VPN users too. Some of us have day jobs, careers, reputations, some of us woudn't want to be caught dead posting at places like this. I like the idea of limiting pictures for raids, or at least letting text posts and leaving pics pending until a mod is awake. I can contribute up to a min of hour of day modding, max two hours for a few weeks if things are going good. But is there anyway I can mod without turning on Javascript? I don't wanna get doxed as a "Moderator" of this place, no offense it's lovely. Also you got to get off telegram. I would've helped modded on Frenschan if there was a way to communicate with you people beyond telegram. I made a post about telegram in meta. Fuck plebbit. I don't want accounts if we don't have to implement them but if they help cut down on raids, spam, and cheese pizza posts then then the mods would do good to consider them. What happened to Frenschan could definetely happen here and Ourchan has already come under attack by shills. I want this iteration of a chan to become what Frenschan didn't have a chance to become and that means finding a way to reduce the ability of nefarious actors to attack the site and put stress on the owners and mods who may eventually throw in the towel and decide it's not worth it anymore.

I got on thanks to a fren getting me an account created with a fake phone number only for that account to be banned months later because I was an open National Socialist on a platform that claimed to be a medium for free speech and expression. My fren offered me another fake number account and I was so angry at Telegram (and also thankful to get off that waste of time) that I declined the offer.

account creation is popular with forums, not image boards. They don't require any email, you just put in a username and password. I wouldn't mind that but it would break the nature of an image board.

Unless you have some sort of AI integrated into the website that scans for pornography or abuse material, you're going to have to rely on people. but you know that.
