Ok, if you could only reccomend 5 books for anyone to read- what would they be
>(inb4fucking Siege or Mien Kampf).
....
I'll start:
1. Treasure Island
2. Starship Troopers
3. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
4. The Odyssey (with notes)
5. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy 1-3

For fiction:
1. The Lord of the Rings
2. The Ball and the Cross
3. Crime and Punishment
4. Guards! Guards!
5. The Count of Monte Cristo

Perhaps I will do non-fiction later.

-Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt (it will surprise you how straight she plays it, swore she'd make him gay)
-Memnoch the Devil (ignore the fact she writes not-gay vampire fiction, this book is incredible when it goes to heaven and hell and through all of Lucifer/Memnoch's reasonings)
-Dune and its sequels up to God Emperor (nothing past is anywhere near as good)
-will add the Silmarillion to his recommendation >>260
-The Shadow of the Torturer (maybe the rest but I've yet to finish beyond that)

and for fun goyslop, 50%+ of the old Star Wars EU is far superior to 110% of yidsneyslop SW
>-Dune and its sequels up to God Emperor (nothing past is anywhere near as good)
ignore the movies, Herbert put 5 years of work into these books before he even started writing them, but he only planned up to God Emperor

I haven't read the ball and the cross or Guards! Guards!.
Non-Fiction would be a bit dry- like what would you recommend someone a math textbook.
(Also- fuck that guy)

Anything written by Terry Pratchett or GK Chesterton is good. Both are British authors. One is Distributionist Catholic, the other Pragmatist New-Age. Both write truth.

Nonfiction:
1. Anti-Fragile
2. Orthodoxy
3. The Creature from Jekyll Island
4. The Gulag Archipelago
5. Our Enemy the State

Ok do you read anything that doesn't have a religious bend to it
>>264
>1. Anti-Fragile
This is for niggers, respectfully. All of his work can be summarized as: expect the unexpected.
>t. read all of his works
>4. The Gulag Archipelago
Decent, but there's better works. 200 Years Together is more significant.

1) That Hideous Strength / The Screwtape Letters
2) The Discourses on Livy, The Art of War, and the Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
3) For My Legionaries
4) Ride the Tiger, Pagan Imperialism, Race as a Builder of Leaders, Revolt Against the Modern World
5) The Life Giving Sword / The Book of Five Rings

for someone who claims to read a lot you sure can't count
>>268
Not bad anon.
>Space Trilogy
You like?
Machiavelli is over-rated and over-reccomended. Clausewitz is a better choice.
>For My Legionaries
Best of the biographies. I want to get my hands on Peron's.

Sorry again fren.
I haven't read anything good in a while- I like novels, but so many are just like McDonalds- I finally tried reading Steven King's "Dark Tower" series and I was so fucking frustrated with it- like "this" is what everyone said was so good? It was awful.
I like Sci-Fi and history, as well as detective novels.

Steven King...shit.
Nothing more needs saying.

>detective
Have you read Father Brown?
Replies: >>279
>>278
Steven King- I don't think I've ever read a book where I just thought "what a fucking pervert" before

No I don't think I have read Father Brown, is it a series?

He's the ur-glowriter.

Chesterton again. They're short stories--usually but not always murders--that examine morality, religion and so on. Kinda like Sherlock.
