Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: ((( Every male among you shall be circumcised. ))) You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring. Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. ((( My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting ))) covenant. Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”

 Gensis 17:9

Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.  That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael;

Genesis 17:24

All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised. Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.

Genesis 34:24

And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised

Leviticus 12:3

At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it. “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said. So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.)

exodus 4:24

David took his men with him and went out and killed two hundred Philistines and brought back their foreskins. They counted out the full number to the king so that David might become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage.

1 Samuel 18:27

And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins

Joshua 5:3

You are filled with shame instead of glory. You also—drink! And be exposed as uncircumcised! The cup of the LORD’s right hand will be turned against you, And utter shame will be on your glory.

Habakkuk 2:16

And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.

Luke 2:21

"Circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee."

Philippians 3:5

But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

 Romans 2:29

Paul wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the Jews who lived in that area, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.

Acts 16:3

It's a fair question. The origin of biblical circumcision is most likely as a ritual made to replace child sacrifice. Israelites originally offered the firstborn of a woman as a molech offering to Yahweh. Modern translations obscure this fact by trying to render molech as a name of a god instead of a type of sacrifice. The 8th day on which firstborns were given as burnt offerings to Yahweh was simply replaced by a ritual where they were dedicated to Yahweh by the mutilation of their genitals—symbolic of slavery to the deity since slaves were often castrated.

About 3/4ths of the way down on both.

Why not articulate it here ?

The verse about YHWH trying to kill Moses is particularly bizarre. I read Exodus Wich in itself is weird as fuck. But YHWH bassically gives Moses his mission send him off and half way through his journey back to eygpt its like YHWH jumps Moses and tries to kill him. I think its because Ziporah didn't circumcize her kids the context is ambiguous. I'm sure some rabbi has a bunch of Talmudic verses breaking down the meaning of this verse but Im not some rabbi that spends hours reading the Torah and Talmud.

>I'm sure some rabbi has a bunch of Talmudic verses breaking down the meaning
Well yeah, schizophrenia is a neverending source of bullshit

>Interesting, love to hear more on this.
You can watch the Bible scholar Dan McClellan give a quick overview on molech offerings:

He refers to Yahweh as Adonai in the vid.

>After Christ, circumcision was deemed obsolete

so what's going on here? With ol Saul the Pharisee?

>Paul wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the Jews who lived in that area, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.

Still being debated at the time. The Judahizers were rejected at the Council of Jerusalem in AD 50.

And again, note the circumcision then was of the older, milder form, not the talamudic abomination.
Also in Acts. Paul later argues against the practice.

He isn't. Jesus says they're worthless and that if you get it done to please God or get into Heaven, you're mistaken, in so many words.

Do you have a direct quote from Jesus? Not Paul or Peter but a direct verse where Jesus himself is saying it is unnecessary.
