Pegasus is a military-grade spyware developed by NSO Group, an Israeli company
it allows governments to secretly hack smartphones running iOS and Android, often via zero-click exploits, giving full access to messages, calls, files, location, camera, and microphone—without the user knowing. Pegasus can install itself without any interaction from the victim. This is called a zero-click attack — just receiving a specially crafted message (for example via iMessage) can exploit a software vulnerability to silently install the spyware.
Although NSO claims it’s for fighting terrorism and serious crime (trust us goy), investigations have shown it’s frequently used to surveil politicians, journalists, activists, lawyers and dissidents around the world.
Once on a target’s phone, Pegasus can give an operator almost total control:
- Access all communications — text messages, emails, chats, encrypted app messages.
- Track location history.
- Exfiltrate media and files — photos, videos, documents.
- Turn on the microphone and camera to record audio and video.
- Harvest passwords, contacts, and app data.
In effect, Pegasus turns a smartphone into a remote surveillance device with almost no limits.
