Some predictors for revolution are very much alarming that the West is in trouble:
>overproduction of elites
19% of americans had college degrees in 1990, and now it is 35%+ (with 60% of the workforce having degrees). Overproduction of elites are the #1 predictor of revolution, because revolution is ultimately less about ideology and more about people not wanting to waste their one life slaving for pedophiles. Revolution is a cutthroat process, where an old elite is systemically replaced by overqualified upstarts. The ideological element (jacobins x girondines, 4chan x reddit) to it comes after.
(eds note: read Peter Turchins)
>rise of eunuchs (gays), women, minorities and misogyny
Combine this scenario with one where half or most of the people acquiring status are childless women and eunuchs (homossexuals), chosen due to their higher degree of conformity to the old regime rather than perceived competence. All revolutions are made by men and women who hate women, and hatred for women always predict SUCCESSFUL revolutions.
The hatred for minorities is similar to the one for women. When the old regime becomes ever more blatantly tyrannical, it tries elevating minorities that rely on it to mitigate risk of upheaval. This in turn further alienates the revolutionary population. Young people will come to despise teachers, judges, cops and DMV clerks with the same fury that they despise presidents and billionaires.
>homogeneization of political extremism
Extremists are people who just want to get ahead.
Political extremism will only get more extreme, to the point that radical leftists and radical rightwingers will agree in principle with violent revolution.
>demonization of ruling elites
When conspiracy theories come true, it is a sign a regime is dying. Because it is a sign that it is losing control of the narrative and fast. Suddenly there is no honor in following the regime. Rather, one becomes accomplice in unbelievable evil for being law-abiding good citizens.
